Four years ago today, Laszlo Hanyecz (pronounced Chuck Jones), a Bitcoin enthusiast or "dollar hater", offered 10,000 Bitcoins for two Papa John's Pizzas. At the time, 10,000 Bitcoins or, as someone with an English accent once call them, "magical beans" were valued at 40 whole dollars. Now, that value has more than doubled...a shit load more. Today 10,000 Bitcoins is valued at roughly 5 million clams! And you thought forty dollars was too much to pay for a cardboard pizza substitute.
In celebration of this monumental day, like Veterans day or Blow Job and Steak Day, we here at College Cooking Network threw a pizza party budgeted solely on the internets' rage cryptocurrency. It was a smashing success until we accidentally tipped the delivery punk 10 whole Bitcoins - we feel we made a grave mistake.
Although we are not at liberty to speculate on the future of Bitcoins, we will say that Papa John's probably won't make it.
Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day!
